Born within the sound of the Bow Bells, Vicky J. Payne is a writer, editor, and proud Londoner.

Her professional writing career began as a Belfast-based journalist during The Troubles. Aside from her time working for the BBC, Vicky is a lifelong freelancer contributing features to women’s magazines and the trade press. From celebrity profiles to in-depth investigations, she has written something every day for longer than she cares to remember.

Vicky also co-founded a successful consultancy offering editorial services to clients in business, the media and government. Here, she worked on the declassification of cannabis campaign and was the editor on Lord Bichard’s Inquiry into the Soham murderer.

In her creative work, Vicky strives to write distinctive female voices. The main character of her acclaimed radio play, She Came To Stay, is an unreliable narrator played by the incomparable Frances Barber. You can listen to it on YouTube here.

Vicky currently lives south of the river with her husband, Andrew. She hopes they will soon be welcoming their second resident from Battersea Dogs’ Home.
